The Times' website, under its faith section, reports yesterday's latest launch of Michael Henderson's book No Enemy to Conquer at a Greencoat Forum in the London centre of Initiatives of Change. Under the headline 'Forgiveness is the key to bringing peace in Northern Ireland', Cheryl Gallagher reports Henderson's emphasis that 'forgiveness far from being just a personal or religious matter can affect the life of nations'.

Every weekday evening Channel 4 TV in the UK broadcasts a short three-minute film, under the series entitled 'three minute wonder', immediately after the main evening news. On Thursday 14 January, the 'three minute wonder' was about South Indian banker J S Parthibhan and his work to provide micro-credit to the villagers of Tamil Nadu.

The short film Two men, one war, 33 years on was broadcast on CNN’s Amanpour Show on 12 January. It shows the courage and great forgiving power of Muhieddine Chehab and Asaad Chaftari, one Muslim, one Christian, who were former enemies in Lebanon’s civil war. ‘Having fought on opposing sides during the Lebanese civil war, two men reconcile openly with their violent history,’ says CNN’s website.

Today's Richmond Times-Dispatch carries a commentary by its president and publisher Tom Silvestri on the recent Metropolitan Richmond Day breakfast forum sponsored by Hope in the Cities. Under the headline, "Building Trust Comes From a Shared Narrative" Silvestri, writes that the event aimed to go beyond stopping at "who is right and who is wrong" in addressing "potentially explosive topics such as race relations, socioeconomic factors, and education problems."

An obituary of Dick Cosens, written by Mike Smith, appeared in The Independent (UK) on 13 October, with the headline "Dick Cosens: Trade union activist who helped get Concorde off the ground".

Australia's ABC Television channel broadcast a programme called Soldiers of Peace featuring Imam Ashafa and Pastor Wuye from Nigeria.  The programme was part of the regular series called "Compass" which is broadcast on Sunday nights, often dealing with moral or spiritual issues.  The film-maker, Tim Wise, met the Imam and Pastor when they were in Sydney last year on an IofC sponsored visit to Australia.
